Night Diving in the Mexican Caribbean

The underwater scenery acquires a completely different dimension when you go night diving in the Mexican Caribbean. The absence of solar light gives a completely different feel to the underwater panorama in the Riviera Maya. This is always an exciting experience due to many different factors.

Firstly, our own feelings towards the night are different. Naturally, our emotions and sensations are heightened during this time.

Another factor is that the prevailing blue filter of the day disappears. The effect of direct artificial light over the reef flora and fauna is dramatic, resulting in an explosion of color.

In addition, artificial lights become the only guide as the darkness compromises the sense of orientation. This slow motion of lanterns against the dark ocean is a thrilling image in itself.

By night the active fauna has different behavior and habits, just as it has on land.

Because of all these factors, night diving is considered a much more risky activity than day diving, so it requires much more training. It is essential to do it in small groups and in places where day dives were done before.

Even so and if you enjoy extreme sports, night diving is a trip to another world that we highly recommend.
