There are several Mayan towns in the Riviera Maya and one of the most representative, authentic ones is the Maya town at Xcaret. Just like in the cities of old, the common people used to live outside the center meanwhile the religious center was exclusively for the Palaces and the temples.
Their homes were built in a circular shape and the roofs were built of palm leaves. The town surrounded an old altar, where nowadays a man wearing a traditional outfit creates handcrafts and pieces of wood are carved into the shape of animals and gods. There is even a Mayan mirror on display in the restrooms. Take a walk through the living history of this wonderful Mayan town.
