The First Film Festival of the Riviera Maya

People traveling to Playa del Carmen usually want to enjoy the beautiful tropical beaches and the Caribbean sun. On October 19th, 20th and 21st, on the esplanade of the Plaza 28 de Julio, located in front of the city hall, the Official Short Films Festival Selection will be screened. After the exhibition of the films there will be a forum with the jury, in order to create a venue where filmmakers, professionals and audience can interact, discuss and learn more about cinema. Additionally, the jury will give lectures according to their film specialization, and also will be carried out other parallel activities such as a workshop by the veteran filmmaker Jorge Pucheux, about mounting and dismounting a cinematographic sequence.

During these days, if you are willing to go to the movies you might find some of the short films of the Mexican Cinematography Institute, since they will be shown on the best movie screens of the city. In the festival there will be also an exhibition of some award-winning short films of the Brooklyn Underground Film Festival, which has been held since four years ago in New York City; as well as an exhibition of short films from Spain.

The award ceremony will be carried out on October 22nd, including the winners of the documentary, short film, experimental and animated film categories. Eventually, the Puerto Rican reggae band "Cultura Profetica", will offer an outdoor concert, which will be opened by "RadioSwap", a reggae band from the Yucatan Peninsula.
