The Fourth Annual Riviera Maya Underground Film Festival

What began as a small film festival four years ago beside the beautiful beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, has today become one of the main film events in southeastern Mexico. In fact, the Riviera Maya Underground Film Festival (RMUFF) has the potential to become one of the major film festivals in the entire country. A wonderful climate, the world's best beaches, the cosmopolitan setting of Playa del Carmen and an eclectic selection of international films: what more could you want?

With a relaxed, innovative, almost informal style, the RMUFF takes place in numerous outdoor settings. It features a short film competition and full-length film screenings, as well as lectures and talks by prestigious filmmakers. The program also includes nightly parties where everyone is invited, both the general public and artists. Concerts, workshops and other activities also usually take place during the festival.

This year, the RMUFF will be held from October 14th to the 18th, with more than 200 submissions from all over the world. The festival will give a main prize and there will also be Audience and Jury's Choice Awards. The winners will have the possibility to be showcased in different international forums, making this is undoubtedly an inviting opportunity for professionals, students and amateur filmmakers to submit their short films.
