Plaza Grande
Merida's main square, also known as ''Plaza Grande'', is a great starting point for travelers who want to take a stroll through Merida's Historic Center. All the narrow streets around the plaza feature lots of handicraft stores, markets and libraries. Quaint restaurants and cafes can also be found in this area, should you want to relax a while and get a bite to eat.
Merida on Sundays
If by any chance you are in Merida on a Sunday, you'll have the opportunity to go shopping and have a fun day out in the Historic Center. Sundays are the most culturally and commercially active days in Merida, when the downtown streets are closed off to motorized vehicles and only pedestrians and cyclists can enter into an area full of music, shows, regional dances, as well as hundreds of stands selling typical food and handicrafts.
Plaza Las Americas
The most renowned brands of clothing, shoes and accessories can be found at Plaza Las Americas. This large shopping mall also features a food court and a cinema complex showing Hollywood's latest movies.
La Gran Plaza
This is a modern commercial complex offering a library, department stores, videogame arcades, photo and video supply stores, as well as beauty parlors and pet stores.
La Gran Plaza also has a comfortable movie theater and many fast food restaurants. |
