Come meet the large, affectionate manatees who live on the island of Cozumel in Dolphin Discovery dolphinarium at Chankanaab Park. When the first European explorers arrived in the Caribbean, the manatees were thought to be Sirens. At the present time, researchers are still studying these wonderful aquatic mammals.
In this incredible encounter you will be taken to swim with the manatees in their home pond. There, the keepers will teach you about their diet, social habits, and life cycle. You can embrace these gentle giants, and receive an affectionate kiss on the cheek! You will also have the opportunity to feed them under the supervision of their caretakers, and even enjoy some free time to swim with them. INCLUDED: This activity includes the admission to Chankanaab national park, life jacket, 15 minutes of orientation about manatees, swim of 30 minutes with manatees program including: hug, kiss, and free time with the manatees.
NOTE: Participants must be at least 3´11” feet tall (1.20 mts.), the minimum age to participate is 8 years old, and must be accompanied by a paying adult. For safety reasons, pregnant women are not allowed in this program.Transportation to Chankanaab Park is not included as well as food and beverages have additional cost.
IMPORTANT: Companions not participating must pay entrance to Chankanaab Park with a cost of $21.00 american dollars and $14.00 american dollars for children.
RECOMMENDATION: We suggest you arrive 30 minutes before your program start, and the use of biodegradable sun block to avoid any damage of these animals habitat, also bring towels, and some extra cash for optional purchases .
