1. Playa Las Perlas (Pearl Beach)
This northern-most beach (at km marker 0.2) is the first public beach you'll find in the hotel zone when coming from downtown. It features relatively calm waters with soft and shallow sandy areas, ideal for those learning to swim. This beach also offers restrooms, showers, lifeguards, food options, parking, dedicated infants/kids areas and even a spot to borrow a book!

2. Playa Tortugas (Turtle Beach)
This is one of Cancun's most popular beaches, including for locals and families, earning it a designation as a national tourism destination during peak season. It includes a small supermarket, local food options and even local artists perfecting their craft. It also features restrooms and lifeguards. The water has moderate wave activity and it's found at km marker 6.5.
3. Playa Caracol (Snail Beach)
Slightly bigger waves and incredibly soft sand combine to create this beach at km marker 8.5. Though you won't find any restrooms or lifeguards, there are seafood restaurants nearby with beautiful ocean views. There is also a good-size supermarket and Plaza Caracol within walking distance.
4. Playa Gaviota Azul (Blue Seagull Beach)
This beach features bigger surf for the adventurous beach-goer. Here, you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas and is located in the heart of Cancun's party and club district at km marker 9.5. This beach is easily accessible from Plaza Forum By the Sea or the Mandala Beach Club. Nearby you will also find Cancun's famous bars, restaurants, local shops and convention center.
5. Playa Chac Mool
With tons of white sandy beach area, this is one of Cancun's most beautiful public beaches. Waves vary from moderate to strong, making it ideal for water sports. Facilities include restrooms, showers, lifeguards, a small parking lot and even a few cabanas. You'll find this beach at km marker 10 in the hotel zone.
6. Playa Marlin (Marlin Beach)
This large and popular beach offers a comfortable wooden walk way to the beach and an area with tables and beautiful ocean views. Mild to strong waves at this spot make it great for water activities. Though you won't find restrooms here, the beach does offer parking and lifeguards. You'll find this spot behind the firestation, near the Plaza Kukulcan at km marker 13.
7. Playa Ballenas (Whale Beach)
This spot is a little more hidden at km marker 14. It's worth seeking out though as it offers strong waves and lots of water activities. The beach also has one of the most picturesque, panoramic views in all of Cancun.
8. Playa Delfines (Dolphin Beach)
Know as "El Mirador" (The View) for is incredible views of the beach and Cancun, this beach is perhaps the most easily accessible. It includes parking, infant/child play areas, an open-air gym, restrooms, showers, cabanas and even a common gazebo area. Perhaps most importantly, this beach also features the famous colored letters of the "Cancun" sign where tourists and locals are know to snap photos. You can line up and have your picture taken by this iconic sign to always remember your time in Cancun. You'll find this beach near El Rey archeological site at km marker 17.7.
